Another popular weight loss product is Orlistat; marketed as Xenical by Roche and Alli by GlaxoSmithKline. Orlistat has already received approval as an obesity drug and is safe for overweight teens too.

No one is going to convince us otherwise and fool us into believing that there is a magic pill that can help one lose weight instantly, because we're more informed and knowledgeable about our health.

The biggest challenge to overweight people happens to be getting them motivated enough to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly, this is usually the hardest part. Even to those over weight folks that get motivated to start, keeping them in the program is always an uphill task. For teenagers, the will is kind of inbuilt. Kids generally are more active, going to school; playing with friends and participating in a host of school activities all provide motivation to keep them going.

Weight Watchers Program

Weight watchers weight loss program is without doubt the most successful of all weight loss programs ever created. The program is based on group member support plus a lenient diet, the program has taken people irrespective of age and weight loss objectives by storm countrywide.

The program was formed 50 years ago and has undergone various changes ever since. The most recent and popular approach involves the use of a "Points and Stay formula", this is a formula for tracking nutritional value of beverages and food and encourages that one sticks to set targets on daily basis.

The points and stay formula advocated by proponents of the weight watchers weight loss program, has attracted many followers and is the heart of the program.

An update to the points and stay formula is something referred to as momentum, this is all about the consumption of filler foods which they say helps in making one feel full for longer thus preventing over eating which is a major cause of weight gain. The point and stay formula helps a person monitor his/her daily calorie intake based on the nutrition point value of food.

Participants are shown how to allot points by attending the weight watchers weight loss programs meetings. According to the program, beverage and food each has a nutritional value point.

These points are computed using a slide tool that is given as part of the member welcome kit. All food with nutritional content label can have the nutrition value checked. There are booklets that list the nutrition value points of restaurant and supermarket items.

Members record the cumulative point during the week for their calorie consumption on a pre printed points journal given in each meeting. With time it becomes easier to do this and you can keep your weight in check.

Weight Loss Tips

Your longevity and quality of life largely depends on your diet, this means that making small lifestyle changes could go a long way in ensuring you live longer and enjoy your life to the fullest. One way to do this is to adopt a healthy and balanced diet. In this article, I'll present a number of healthy diet tips to living a longer life and lose weight.

These tips can be handy if placed in a place that is easily accessible such as the fridge door, the kitchenware drawer or napkin holder. Practice they say makes perfect and the same applies to these tips. Practice them until they become second nature, if you don't like a tip, simply drop it and pick the next one that works for you.

These tips should be treated like an experiment, one that enables you to learn more about yourself and habits. Do not give up on them but keep practicing until you build mastery with them.

Self Discipline on the table

Practice putting down your folk between bites, it has been shown that the stomach takes about 20 minutes after a meal to inform the brain that it is full, but since many of us clear our plates in 10 minutes or less, the urge to eat more may build up prompting over consumption of calories, a situation that likely leads to weight gain.

Therefore, it's important that you give the stomach sufficient time to communicate with the brain by eating slowly. Once you take a bite, practice putting the cutlery on the table and use them again after the load on the mouth has been cleared.

Minimize Calorie loaded Fluid Intake

Health experts say that 30 per cent of calories consumed by Americans are in the form of liquids. Therefore, develop a habit of taking calorie free liquids if you feel the urge to drink something. Try to cut down on carbonated and fruit flavored beverages and see the change.

Another good weight loss tip is to stop eating when you feel full. These may sound hard but remember “practice makes perfect".
